Not Just Wood

Alternative pallets are designed and built to overcome the drawbacks of using traditional pallets for the storage and transportation of goods.

In addition to new and used wood pallets, Millwood offers a complete line of alternative pallets for niche applications, including:

• Corrugated pallets
• Plastic pallets
• Metal pallets (steel or aluminum)
• Composite pallets, manufactured from a combination of wood and other materials, including molded blocks.

Metal (steel and aluminum) and plastic pallets are ideal for closed-loop applications where durability is paramount.

Corrugated and composite pallets are designed to be lighter and cleaner than traditional wood pallets, reducing freight costs and lessening the potential for workplace injuries and debris.

Sonoco Inc. participates in the Millwood Connect™ Strategic Alliance Program and provides FirmaDeck™ and FirmaLoad™ carriers. These corrugated carriers are designed for your specific application. We utilize a science based approach to offer alternatives to traditional shipping carriers. They are custom designed to meet the unique strength requirements of the application. Load handling methods, storage and transportation are all analyzed before offering a recommendation. A laboratory report will be supplied after ISTA (International Safe Transit Authority) analysis.

Lighter in weight than wood or plastic, FirmaDeck™ carriers are ideal for air freight shipment. Lighter weight results in reduced per-pallet-position freight cost by approximately $45 (air), $1.90 (sea) and $0.58 (land). The pallet is totally recyclable and reduces landfill disposal fees. FirmaDeck™ is ISPM15 exempt manufactured from import/export friendly materials.

FirmaDeck™ is available in a variety of strength-specific designs. There are rackable designs with a weight capacity in excess of 2800 lbs. Stackable designs are available in excess of 12,000 lbs.
