Stewardship for People, Products and the Planet

For more than 40 years, Millwood has built its reputation on trust, service and responsible stewardship. The Millwood Sustainability Report shares how we are living those commitments today across our nationwide network of 40+ facilities and more than 2,000 Team Members. This report reflects our ongoing journey toward sustainability in packaging, responsible sourcing and ethical business practices.

From sustainable procurement to recycling and repair programs, we are focused on building stronger, more resilient supply chains. Our nationwide pallet recycling network and pallet repair and return program help reduce waste, extend product life and support a more circular economy. In 2025 alone, Millwood recycled nearly 67 million pallets through its nationwide recovery network, helping customers reduce waste and maximize the value of wood resources. We continue to expand our data tracking efforts, measuring emissions, waste and water usage so we can make better decisions for the future.

Sustainability at Millwood is rooted in Perfect Stewardship, caring for people, products and the planet. Whether through ESG supply chain practices, emissions tracking or investments in clean technology, we are committed to transparency and long term environmental responsibility.

This page highlights the pillars of the 2026 report and provides a clear look at the programs, policies and progress shaping our sustainability strategy.

Our Commitment to Stewardship

Millwood’s sustainability work is built on a simple conviction: we are responsible for what we create, how we operate and how we care for people. Our sustainability framework brings together environmental stewardship, ethical business conduct and responsible procurement.

Across all departments, we emphasize transparency, measurable progress and collaboration. This includes expanding data-driven tracking systems, conducting emissions baseline studies and strengthening partnerships with suppliers who share our values. In 2025, Millwood established its first company-wide Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions baseline using EcoVadis Carbon Estimator tools, creating a stronger foundation for future environmental initiatives and performance tracking.

We remain committed to stewardship that honors our Team Members, customers and communities, and reflects our faith-driven mission to serve with integrity.

Sustainable Procurement

Responsible sourcing is at the center of our sustainability strategy. In 2025, Millwood launched its Supplier Code of Conduct to reinforce expectations around ethical labor practices, environmental responsibility and transparent business conduct.

Supplier participation and compliance efforts are already progressing toward Millwood’s long term goal of full Supplier Code of Conduct alignment across the supply chain by 2030.

We prioritize sourcing materials and production within 150 miles of customer locations whenever possible, reducing transportation emissions and supporting regional economies. Our partnerships with FSC and SFI suppliers strengthen responsible forestry practices and reinforce our commitment to sustainable materials.

Through repair and return programs, proactive risk analysis and expanded vendor assessments, we continue to strengthen ESG supply chain practices and promote long term sustainability across our network.

Environmental Impact

Millwood’s environmental work centers on reducing emissions, managing resources wisely and supporting a circular economy.

Carbon Tracking

In 2024, we began building a baseline for Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions using EPA and EcoVadis tools. This foundational work allows us to identify major sources and set reduction goals.

Electric Forklift Transition

Our multi year plan will replace all propane forklifts with electric models by 2030, significantly reducing emissions and improving air quality across our facilities.

The initiative includes converting 91 forklifts across 11 facilities and is projected to reduce carbon emissions by more than 4,400 metric tons over the life of the program.

Repair and Return Programs

With more than 50 million pallets repaired each year, our recycling and restoration operations reduce waste, conserve lumber and support sustainability in packaging.

During 2025, Millwood recycled nearly 67 million pallets through its recovery network, further extending product life cycles and supporting circular economy principles across North America.

CORE Erosion Control

By repurposing reclaimed wood into erosion control products, we turn waste into purpose and support land and water protection.

In 2025 alone, CORE operations diverted approximately 53 million pounds of material from landfills. Stacked end to end, that volume would be equivalent to a pallet stack reaching more than 17 times the height of Mount Everest.

Ethics and Responsible Business Practices

Ethical behavior is central to our identity. Our policies for sensitive transactions, QHSE management and integrity commitments guide every Team Member.

We maintain strict standards for transparency, anti corruption safeguards, information security and whistleblower protections. Our partnership with ADP LifeCare provides confidential support resources to promote ethical decision making and overall wellbeing.

Millwood also strengthened its sustainability governance efforts through continued EcoVadis participation, achieving a 24 percent improvement in its assessment score and earning EcoVadis Committed recognition in 2025.

These programs reflect our commitment to fairness, accountability and responsible corporate citizenship.

Labor and Human Rights

We value the dignity and safety of every Team Member. Millwood promotes fair working conditions, equal opportunity, “non harassment” policies and environmental health and safety practices across all sites.

Through Millwood Cares, chaplain support, benefits, ESL programs, mission trips and family centered initiatives, we invest in the whole person, not only the employee. This is a defining part of our culture and one of the strongest expressions of our stewardship.

Why It Matters

Sustainability is more than a corporate goal, it is a responsibility we carry for future generations. The Millwood Sustainability Report gives customers, suppliers and stakeholders a transparent look at how we are reducing environmental impact, strengthening supply chain resilience and supporting the communities we serve.

Across Millwood’s recycling and recovery operations, more than 7.5 billion pounds of material have been recovered through pallet recycling and CORE Erosion Control programs over the past two years. These efforts demonstrate how stewardship, resource recovery and operational performance can work together to create meaningful environmental impact.

With a national footprint, vertically integrated capabilities and a deep commitment to stewardship, Millwood is positioned to help partners achieve their own sustainability goals through reliable, right fit solutions.

Sustainability in packaging matters because it reduces waste, conserves natural resources and lowers emissions across the supply chain. It also helps companies manage risk, support ESG goals and build more resilient, cost effective operations over time.

Packaging and material handling choices affect everything from carbon emissions to landfill use. By focusing on sustainability in packaging, Millwood helps customers reduce waste through pallet recycling, repair and return programs and circular solutions such as reclaimed wood erosion control products. These programs conserve lumber, extend product life and decrease disposal costs while supporting ESG supply chain practices. At the same time, better tracking of emissions, water and waste strengthens risk management and prepares businesses for evolving regulations and customer expectations. For many partners, sustainable packaging is not only good stewardship, it is a practical path to long term operational resilience.

Millwood supports sustainable procurement through a Supplier Code of Conduct, local sourcing strategies, certified forestry partnerships and ongoing ESG assessments. We work to align sourcing decisions with environmental responsibility, ethical labor standards and long term supply chain resilience.

Our sustainable procurement approach begins with clear expectations. The Supplier Code of Conduct addresses labor and human rights, environmental practices and integrity in business dealings. Where possible, we source materials and locate production within a 150 mile radius of customers to reduce transport emissions and support regional economies. Partnerships with FSC and SFI certified suppliers reinforce responsible forestry and help protect natural resources. We also use supply chain risk analysis and sustainability surveys to understand where we can improve. Together, these steps move us toward stronger ESG supply chain practices without losing the flexibility our customers need in a changing market.
